Romatsa was fined for discrimination charges

The Romanian Administration of Air Traffic Services was fined, on Wednesday, by the National Council for Combating Discrimination (CNCD) with 11,000 lei for direct discrimination, which violated the right to equal treatment in terms of employment.

CNCD established that “the introduction and use during the recruitment procedure for the position of air traffic controller of the age criterion, without promoting the objective justification test (the criterion to pursue a legitimate aim, to be adequate and necessary, respectively to be proportionate to the aim pursued) constitutes an act of direct discrimination which violated the right to equal treatment as regards employment and occupation, according to Article 2 paragraph ( 1) in conjunction with Article 6 of Government Ordinance 137/2000, republished.”
